ECOTOURISM

Our commitment to sustainable and responsible ecotourism is first of all a personal commitment that we have believed in for many years.

As a result of many meetings, sharing and personal reflections, we are convinced that it is possible to be a tourism structure while having a positive and virtuous impact on the local territory and with the village’s inhabitants.

What’s more, this commitment is essential to us because of the ecolodge’s geographical location: the palm grove is a fragile ecosystem that suffers from numerous human impacts (urbanization, drought, deforestation, bayod…). Simply because we love this unique place, we do everything we can to preserve it.

Various sustainable actions and gestures are being implemented within the ecolodge, each initiative requiring time, financial investment and practical adaptation to make it sustainable. We still have many projects and dreams for improvement, but we prefer each gesture to be first anchored by the whole team before introducing new ones.

  • Planting of many trees in our gardens and palm grove.

  • Reproducing and sharing farmer seeds suited to the environment

  • Growing organic vegetables in our gardens

  • Fresh, local, seasonal and organic food (when possible)

  • Reducing energy consumption: LED bulbs, solar panels for restaurant, kitchen and exterior lighting.

  • Sustainable water management: Installation of flow restrictors, gradual installation of dry toilets, water consumption awareness boards

  • Waste reduction: Installation of Berkey filters, a sustainable alternative to cut down on the use of plastic water bottles.

  • Purchase in large-format packaging. No single-use soap and shampoo.

  • Housekeeping with biodegradable, health-friendly products

  • Accommodations are built using local, natural materials and integrated into their environment, highlighting local and traditional expertise.

  • A professional team, declared and remunerated as fairly as possible.

  • Training, support and sharing with the local population (associations of young people, disabled people, cooperatives and palm grove farmers).

  • Sale of products from Moroccan cooperatives all involved in a responsible trade network thanks to the Asdikae Bila houdoud Moroccan cooperatives network.

  • Educating travelers about eco-responsible tourism
